Long view on a short week
The Thanksgiving holiday in the US makes for a short work week. Selecting an ink palette for a short week is challenging. Do I go for inks and pens to use at home or do I still plan as if working at school? The newest — ahem: the only newly — inked pen is the classic Esterbrook J. Its 2442 F Stub nib is smooth and just stubby enough to be fun. I fixed the pen up myself, so feel attached to the little girl.

Two greys, three blues, a green, a brown and a pink. Nearly all of the tones are unsaturated and cool. Dusty blues and greens are easy on the eyes. I find unsaturated colors calming; and we can all use a little comfort nowadays. I’m quite at home with this week’s currently inked.

Into the land of B –– The setup for this week stands out of character. I now have five B nibs and four ground nibs inked. The comforting world of EF line widths that is typically my notebooks are momentarily in the rear-view.

Subduing the sparkle. This week is all about balance. With winter approaching I’m feeling an earthy ink palette. Shimmer inks will brighten the moodiness of this week’s colors. Seven of eight new inks are from samples.
