The bookend approach to inking up for commonplacing
I cleaned two inked pens in preparation for this week. Two threads drive my thinking. The novelty of pen and ink combinations motivates me to get into my work. New choices are always welcome — and effective.
Also, a week of iron gall bravery raised my anxiety. I want my stationery to offer joy, not worry. So, a week without incident or pen damage is capped. I’m happy with how Spring Rain did last week.
The 2021 summer pen show collection
I chose six pen and ink combinations in anticipation of the 2021 DC Pen Show. For the first time since starting this blog, my currently inked is more about sharing with others than about my own writing.
Putting Japanese F nibs in the driver’s seat
A full week with my current sextet of pens and inks confirms that I dig this particular set of combinations. The colors and nib choices have been well-balanced: dark and light colors, narrow and wider nibs, large and small pens.
Balance kept me interested and writing throughout the week. Even while on the road. Now that’s success.
Inviting ink samples to the party
Back in the saddle again. And with a fresh collection of six pen and ink combinations. Change is fun.
