Adding smiles with the sentimental

This week’s currently inked adds two pens. I chose them because they both hold sentimental value for me.

The Nakaya was my “engagement ring.” My spouse ordered the pen and used it to propose to me instead of using a ring. Not only is it a great pen, it’s meaningful for me. I dig a pen that makes me smile when I reach for it.

The frosted Kaweco Sport is the pen I bought during my first stationery meetup. I was so excited to find a group of people who also found themselves drawn to the stationery aisle. This pen reminds me that stationery lovers make for great company.

All together, this week offers a healthy mix of nib sizes. The color palette follows suit. Two EF (in grey and blue), two F (green and orange), and two B (blue and purple).

I already have a calendar full of meetings this week. The flexibility to have both a broad and a fine line will make my meeting notes easily searched. Broad lines for headings and major details. Fine lines for detailed notes.

Love going into a week feeling prepared. And smiling.

Grey/Black

TWSBI Eco-T Mint (EF). Sailor Ink Studio 223. Daily driver. This pair has grown wetter in the three weeks since I inked it. The ink pools up at first. Evens out into a lovely grey after a few lines. Continues on as my task management combo. Also for faculty and student meetings.

Blue/Teal

Kaweco Frosted Sport Light Blueberry (Premium EF). Colorverse Warped Passages. The new EF nib comes alive with Warped Passages. Mid-level wetness balances a short dry time with noticeable shading. Passages’ mid-toned denim blue behaves well on my pocket notebook’s Stalogy paper. Pocket carry, lesson plans, meeting notes, scratch notes.

Platinum 3776 Nice Pur (B). Diamine Skull & Roses. One of two accenting pairs this week. The Pur colorway balances looking fun while avoiding being so ostentatious as to derail a meeting. The B nib works great for headers, especially against the TWSBI’s EF. Meeting notes, lesson plans, reading notes, journaling.

Earth Tones

Narwhal Schuylkill Chromis Teal (F). Taccia Ukiyo-e Sharaku-Koiame. The dry pairing suits copy paper well. Minimal feathering makes for reliable readability. This means: a great marking combo. Marking, lesson plans, journaling.

Pelikan m805 Stresemann Anthracite (F Architect, by Custom Nib Studio). Akkerman Dutch Masters Dou’s Emerald Green. My parent meeting combo. The pen looks professional, if fancy. The architect grind serves as both an EF detail notes writer and a broader F headings and accents writer. Love a good multitasker nib. Meeting notes, lesson plans, marking papers, journaling.

Wild Cards

Nakaya Neostandard Heki-tamenuri (B). Birmingham Andy Warhol Pop Art Purple. An accenting pair. The wide B nib and bright purple ink lay down true B width lines. The nib is just dry enough to show off some of Warhol’s subtle shading. The round B is great for long form writing tasks, especially when I’m writing at odd angles without a desk nearby. Meeting notes, journaling, teaching reflections, lesson plans.

All in the family
