Seeing the same-old in a new light, a mnml digest
A curated journey through five articles, posts and podcasts that are speaking to me this week. Pulled widely from a week’s worth of reading. Shared in ten sentences or fewer. A fun means of reflecting on the blogs I regularly read in a way that spreads the link love.
This week: taking pleasure in what I have in front of me. Seeing the same-old pens and inks in a new light. Cobbling frankenpens together. Creatively reimagining how my stationery kit might be used.
Currently Inked: Things Are Getting Out of Hand (Writing at Large). Taking stock of what I have inked and what I have in my pen case is absolutely worth every minute of the time it takes to keep up.
Monthly Inked // 2023 Rotation (Weirdoforest Pens). Limiting myself to one or two pens can force me into seeing a pen or ink from a new angle — out of necessity. Artificial caps help me to stumble into features of those limited pens I might otherwise overlook.
Pre-printed, Blank Postcards Await Your Imagination (Analog Office). Experimenting with what works, and what’s fun, often leads me to exciting ways to use what I would otherwise overlook. And even make my own postcards. Cool.
Notebook in “The Glass Onion” (Notebook Stories). Watching other people — real and fictional — use stationery I use is its own brand of awesome.
Keep a “WHERE Is It” File (Analog Office). Searchability is my favorite word-that-isn’t-a-word — and it is a north star for me. Indexing where my items are stored, especially ink samples, makes locating them so easy and painless that keeping up the “where is it” file is absolutely worth my attention.
