Posts that reflect on a particular time and place, a mnml digest
A curated journey through five articles, posts and podcasts that are speaking to me this week. Pulled widely from a week’s worth of reading. Shared in ten sentences or fewer. A fun means of reflecting on the blogs I regularly read in a way that spreads linky love.
My reading this week has me reflecting on time and place. Art captures what it’s like to live in a particular moment. Great art presents that moment in a way that people from many times and many places can see their reflections in it.
I appreciate the same in folks’ stationery blogging. Jaunts through what they’re using in their particular times and places. Sharing what they creating with those pens and inks and notebooks where they are.
Zooming in (Rita’s Notebook). I dig a thoughtful poem. This one joins Rita in reflecting on the difference between what feels like spring and what should be spring.
Daily Carry — April 2023 Edition (dapprman). A window into how Gary’s current load out of pens and inks suits the kinds of writing tasks on his desk at the moment. A reflection after my own heart.
Fountain Pen Review: Platinum Preppy Wa Modern Maki-e Fountain Pen (The Well-Appointed Desk). Laura offers an excellent contrast between her thoughts on low-entry pens like the Preppy from years ago and right now. A clever angle for helping me read into whether I’d also like a Preppy.
Currently Inked for Monday, April 17, 2023: A Demonstration on Swapping Lamy Nibs (The Gentleman Stationer). I enjoy this new currently inked series over at “the TGS” (Is “TGS” a thing?). The YouTube videos are worth watching, too, as they blend what’s inked right now with a useful stationery-related tip.
Kurt Cobain’s Spiral Notebooks (Noted). I’m reminded that my journaling is “correct” so long as it captures my time and place on a given day. Non-linear, messy, short, or simply ink drops on a page all count.
