Avoiding the weeds, a mnml digest
A curated journey through five articles, posts and podcasts that are speaking to me this week. Pulled widely from a week’s worth of reading; and in ten sentences or fewer. A fun means of reflecting on the blogs I regularly read in a way that spreads the link love.
This week: avoiding “the weeds” when experimenting with new journaling or productivity systems. I have the most success when I stick to the basics of systems like GTD or Zettelkasten. The details turn me about — and get in the way.
Ibn Khaldūn (Stuff You Missed in History Class). A grandfather of teaching methods agrees. Start with the basics, reflect on how the basics are — and aren’t — working, then get into the details and specifics.
Colorverse Gray (Mountain of Ink). There is happiness to be had in the basics. Fancy (or complex) is not required.
Journal Sketch: New dog, coffee, and sunsets (Writing at Large). Take heart in imperfections. They make your journaling yours.
In use (Stationery Pizza). Take an inventory of what’s in use. And, within that inventory, assess what’s working and what’s working less-than-well.
Use a Pen on Purpose (Inkstable). So that you know the tools you use bring joy to the surface. The details work best when my pens work for me.

Note: This is an experimental post series. I’m still playing with a creative way to share links. Future posts may look quite different as I continue to tinker. Suggestions are quite welcome!
