Finding novelty in what I already have, a mnml digest
A curated journey through five articles, posts and podcasts that are speaking to me this week. Pulled widely from a week’s worth of reading; and in ten sentences or fewer. A fun means of reflecting on the blogs I regularly read in a way that spreads the link love.
This week: Novelty is the heart of what keeps me writing and teaching well. New experiences draw me back to my notebooks. Making something new out of what’s already in my study. Recycling is a creative process in itself. Reading new possibilities into what I already have. Same impact. Protects food money.
What’s on my desk? August 2022 (The Well-Appointed Desk). First, I think through what my absolute favorites are. What do I already enjoy using most often?
Surprise: Diamine blue black (a fleeting ripple). Then I create new, rewarding combinations amongst my favorites. Like putting favorite inks into old, empty ink bottles.
You Don’t Have to Buy Another Pen Ever, If You Use Refillable Pens (Chicana Writes). The same goes for swapping my currently inked pen and ink combinations often.
Practical Planning: How I Use Planners (The Gentleman Stationer). Customize and experiment. Like Joe’s clever Stalogy hack — literally and descriptively.
Bit by Bit (Lore). And, finally, stories help me see my day-to-day in new lights. Mindset matters. Ghost horses, included.

Note: This is an experimental post series. I’m still playing with a creative way to share links. Future posts may look quite different as I continue to tinker. Suggestions are quite welcome!
