Thinking via the notes I take, a mnml digest
A curated journey through five articles, posts and podcasts that are speaking to me this week. Pulled widely from a week’s worth of reading; and in ten sentences or fewer. A fun means of reflecting on the blogs I regularly read in a way that spreads the link love.
This week: on taking notes. On thinking via the notes I take. Notes that help me read actively in dialogue with an author’s own thinking. And how the ways I take notes, and the tools I take notes with, influence my thinking.
Making Pen Shows Accessible (Rachel’s Reflections). Notes can be descriptive, or reflective or analytic. This reflection on how we might make pen shows more accessible offers a great step forward for those who run shows.
The Art of Taking Notes (Focused). The notes I take are given shape by the tools I used to take those notes. What I take my notes in shapes how I revisit those notes, if I revisit them at all.
On the Differences Between Grips (Krafty Cats). For example, small changes to the shape and size of a pen’s grip influence my willingness to think deeply and “sit in an idea.” The more comfortable in my writing grip, the more likely I am to do that “sitting.”
Hand of Write (Goodwriter’s Blog). The helpfulness of my notes is shaped by my notetaking process — the tasks nobody else sees.
Managing Notes (Stationery Adjacent). Active reading, for me, is taking notes on notes I’ve already taken. Making connections across authors’ ideas is great preparation for writing.

Note: This is an experimental post series. I’m still playing with a creative way to share links. Future posts may look quite different as I continue to tinker. Suggestions are quite welcome!
