Basic is the new special edition, a mnml digest
A curated journey through five articles, posts and podcasts that are speaking to me this week. Pulled widely from a week’s worth of reading. Shared in ten sentences or fewer. A fun means of reflecting on the blogs I regularly read in a way that spreads the link love.
This week: singing the glories of no-nonsense stationery basics. Simplicity is its own flashy when inks, papers and pens simply work well together. There’s happiness to be had in a simple gray or sepia or blue or teal. Or black notebook-lette.
Ink Review #717: Aurora Gray (Fountain Pen Pharmacist). I sometimes overlook pen companies’ basic ink lines for new and exciting trends. But basics are ubiquitous because they simply work. “Hurray, gray inks!” indeed.
Visconti Sepia Ink Review (The Pen Addict). Plain, utilitarian and well-behaved are all marks of reliability.
Vintage Looseleaf Notebook Made by Wilson Jones (Notebook Stories). Simple is sophisticated wherever simple meets your needs. Like a six-ring pocket binder.
Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-peki on Midori MD Cotton (Inkcredible Colours). And simple can be complex when paired together. Solid ink on great, simple paper.
Blekkfang — Rohrer & Klingner Verdigris (Pennen er Mektigere). A simple ink is also the history of that ink’s inspiration. And I dig stationery that knows where it comes from.

Note: This is an experimental post series. I’m still playing with a creative way to share links. Future posts may look quite different as I continue to tinker. Suggestions are quite welcome!
