Approaching the typical sideways, a mnml digest
A curated journey through five articles, posts and podcasts that are speaking to me this week. Pulled widely from a week’s worth of reading. Shared in ten sentences or fewer. A fun means of reflecting on the blogs I regularly read in a way that spreads the link love.
This week: approaching the typical sideways. Peering at all three dimensions of my writing tools and writing strategies. Sinking below the surface to see the inner story. New ideas are born from new perspectives.
Inkxperiment: Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrun (inkxplorations). Writing ink reimagined as painting medium. Brings the many faces of the much-loved Alt-Goldgrun out to play.
November Foliage Ink Palettes (Mountain of Ink). I can also translate the world around me right onto the palettes I dress my desk in. Not to mention Kelli’s excellent commentary.
Monteverde Sweet Life Blue Velvet Cake (Dapprman). And an ink review that delves into the broader release history and marketing eccentricities of Blue Velvet Cake. A reminder of that any ink is as much a product of the behind-the-scenes as the ink itself.
Inky Musings (The Well-Appointed Desk). Every choice is interconnected to other choices you’ve made. ‘What ink should I use in my pen’ is given shape by ‘what inks should I own?’
Nib Preferences (Stationery 🍕). All this drives home the power of trying what I “know” I dislike. Over time, preferences may change in fun and surprising ways: “So I guess this is my thing now?” (Last Line).

My editor tells me I should share that I also did some writing of my own this week.
