Fear is an engine of creativity, a mnml digest
A curated journey through five articles, posts and podcasts that are speaking to me this week. Pulled widely from a week’s worth of reading; and in ten sentences or fewer. A fun means of reflecting on the blogs I regularly read in a way that spreads the link love.
This week: how dang useful fear is in the creation process. The publications I’m most proud of are those that scared me the most to take on. I fear messing up what’s most important. Creating, for me, is a frightful-scary game of chasing projects that scare me to take on.
Inktober Starts Saturday! (The Well-Appointed Desk). The only way I’ve learned to do something new has been through trying something I can’t do. A great encouragement to take on Inktober.
Do you ever regret getting a custom nib grind? (Chicana Writes). Mismatches and failures are lessons. Lessons that steer me toward the nib grinds that I do like.
NaNo Plan-O (The Pen Addict). The mistakes I fear making are signposts pointing in the direction of my most important next adventure. Setting a goal of “failing better” for myself makes me less fearful.
Lennon Tool Bar Nahu on Footnotes (Inkcredible Colours). Even though I often just fear violating the expectations of what I think folks want me to do.
Bygone (Lore). Then again, sometimes trying something new is actually finding what I’ve lost. Rediscovery need not be so scary.

Note: This is an experimental post series. I’m still playing with a creative way to share links. Future posts may look quite different as I continue to tinker. Suggestions are quite welcome!
